something like this should  work (Taken from
Jt.http.JtHttpAdapter) ....

      try {
          eString = URLEncoder.encode(xmlMsg, "UTF-8");
      } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) {
          handleException(e);
          return (null);
      }
