Sounds like you don't have the right API key in. You need one for Developement and one for Production. So one for when you push it to the phone from Eclipse or whatever and one You use when you publish the application. That sounds like your issue right there. I had it happen to me where it shows the markers but it won't actually load the map tiles. Check that API key, if you don't have one you need one :)
