I think if you want to write an app that uses the ambient light sensor, you should make sure the phone you buy has an ambient light sensor. Note that os ver 2.2 has the most phones now, so I'd get one that has that os. Google evidently has NO INTENTION of upgrading the developer phone they sell, which has made me sort of mad. (Bough the darn thing for $400)
