I found some glimmer of hope while searching for the wifi Chipset on the G1. It appears that the Texas Instruments TNETW1251 Wifi chipset does support UMA. Sooo.. given some time and kernel hacking, could the G1's UMA capable wifi chipset and others be incorporated in the Android OS?
