> security hole I see that it is a security concern. But not a hole or vulnerability.
Isolating every application and requiring collaberation between developers to create interaction between apps is a little shortsighted and not very open at all. It may be that developers wouldn't want other devs writing addons, extensions, plugins, et al. From this standpoint, their app isn't under their complete control. They might not want to allow this because user experience is not guaranteed. However, security should be for the user, not the developer. App interaction is not a bigger security concern than new apps. In fact, security may even be enhanced through the use of apps interacting together. E.g., apps for firewall, antivirus, privacy mgr, adblock, permissions mgr, accounts mgr, passwords mgr, backup/sync, clipboard, screenshot/screencast, monitor/log/trace, et al. Most operating systems allow custom app development, app interaction, plugins, extensions, overrides, replacements, et al. MacOS, Windows, Unix, GNU/Linux. Ij can't see Android as a serious platform for computing (mobile, tablet, or otherwise) without standard features.? Android behaves like a super restrictive, single purpuse, limited functionality system. Akin to some gaming consoles (e.g., Xbox, Playstation, Wii) or embedded devices. Stop saying Android is the developers platform, has great security, is extremely open, and is easy to use. At present, it's one of the most closed platforms for app development.
