Set the visibility of the animated view to GONE after the animation
completes so it doesn't take up "space" on the screen when it's away.
The stuff underneath it will then be touchable.  You may need another
container or layout for these elements if it would cause your layout
to change the size of everything else.  You'll of course have to set
the visibility back to VISIBLE if it comes back.
