What are you basing this fear on? Does Amazon currently offer some other
inferior product you can compare to?
Do you think they got their (excellent) brand name by pushing inferior
products?
Have you actually tried the product (the Appstore)? It's *leaps and bounds*
beyond the Android Market. Search actually works. You can filter apps.
Reviews require both rating and comment so require some thought.
Your views as a developer aside for second, as a customer their store is
unquestionably better.

What, the ones you mentioned before? Personally, the only one I was even
aware of, besides Google's obviously, was SlideMe, and that's because people
that worked on it had a very public discussion about that store in this
group.

Brand name is a pretty important factor when you're trying to get people to
buy from a store and get your product sold.

Could you elaborate on how these are better (I'm genuinely curious).
