Hi!

My problem is that I got a HTC-Dream G1 developer phone from my
university(well, that's not the problem:) ), and it is able to work
without a SIM card and has some figures on the back, that's why I
think it's a developer edition. I have to do a project which operates
with bluetooth link quality, which needs root rights to reach, and
when I tried to get link quality from terminal emulator, it said I
don't have the rights to do it. So I thought, rooting would be the
answer.
But after following a tutorial and rooting the phone, it asks me for a
googlemail account, but as I'm not a T-mobile customer, I don't have
data plan. So I made a factory reset, but it didn't take me back to
the original state neather.

Do you have any idea, how to get back the original status of my
developer phone? And if you do, do you have any idea how to grant
myself root rights?

Thanks in advance.
Peter
