try-catch doesn't really help because the NoClassDefFoundError bubbles from MapActivity.onCreate and when I swallow it, I see a SuperNotCalledException. I guess I have to add an uncaughtExceptionHandler and then check for the device fingerprint and follow TreKing's suggestion.
