No solution for you, but FWIW I can repro it using my own GLSurfaceView activity. Took right on 30 open/close cycles on my 2.3.3 N1 before it hit, but hit it did.
I've also been seeing these in my Dev Console error logs since forever. Since long before Gingerbread, for whatever that's worth. Never managed to make it happen before, but then I don't suppose I tried opening & closing the app 30 times before.
