TreKing, this just gave me an idea. How about a hybrid between GPS and accelerometer? Keep the GPS listener running until there was no position update for, let's say, 20 periods. Then disable the GPS listener and enable the accelerometer listener. Once movement is observed, restart the GPS listener. Now of course the big question is how the power consumption compares between the two...
