Neil,

Not to beat over a dead horse, and out of curiosity more than anything else... it is possible draw the outside rectangular border, in addition to the rounded inside border, with a layer list drawable.

I am attaching a small (6K) screenshot. The green and brown could be changed to any other color, including white and blue :)
