Do you call appWidgetManager.updateAppWidget with the RemoteViews object?

If you do, is there perhaps any other place where you also update the widget? (so that updates are stepped on?)

With regard to changing the icon image i am using the code

RemoteViews remoteView = new RemoteViews(getApplicationContext().getPackageName(), R.layout.widget_layout); remoteView.setImageViewResource(R.id.widgetButton, android.R.drawable.ic_menu_close_clear_cancel);

but it doesnt seem to change the image.where widget_layout.xml is below. Any advice? thanks again for the help.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android";
android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent">
<ImageButton android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/widgetButton" android:layout_weight="2">
</ImageButton>
</LinearLayout>
