Look: I do appreciate it when you give their comeuppance to people who fail to follow the advice/directions of http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html and the like, but really: this is a Google group, you should Google "heat map" or even "Wikipedia heat map" yourself rather than post naive questions like that.
A heat map is a map that shows some z-valued variable distributed over the x-y plane, showing the z-value as a color, such as red for very hot, orange for not so hot. But the z-value does not need to be temperature, the map treats it as analogous to temperature.
