ok i've decided to go that route.
i can sub-class and test the different methods.
the preference activity is based on an xml file.
<EditTextPreference
android:key="emp_id"
android:title="@string/pref_empid"
android:singleLine="true" />
how do i tell it to use my EditTextPreference sub-class.
