I have your same problem and did just what you want to do. The credit card info is registered to your checkout account. the payment goes to your significant other but the Market account registered is yours. When you get your own credit card you can just go to your google checkout account, add your new CC info and remove the other person's info from there (just checked and it's possible to remove the CC info)
