yes, you can use the Nexus S to communicate with various types of
contactless smart cards. Besides MIFARE, FeliCa and some other memory
card protocols, the Nexus S also supports IsoDep (APDU based
communication on top of ISO 14443-4).

If you can use the Nexus S to communicate with the secure element of
another phone also depends on the antenna parameters of the other
phone. Not all phones work well together.
