Sorry for dig this out.
I also has the similar issue about the long press event in
monkeyrunner. I tried to long pressing DEL key using DOWN event, but
it only delete one character.

I have tried on Nexus S (v2.3.4) and HTC Desire HD (v2.2.1), the same
result came.

And even for this example concerning the power key, only Nexus S
works. DesireHD even did not invoke the power-off screen.
