Hello, There are many tutorials, which can be found by googling for "android programming tutorials", and "android programming examples"
There is no short-cut to avoid the learning curve, except being determined. Perhaps you have an idea of a app you would like to have on your phone for you own reasons, and then set your sights on how to do this. Personally I chose to make a call and SMS blocker, tailored for my own needs - which I had a lot of satisfaction is completing.
