My first app..(GameCalls).. I spent many days creating images and layouts to
cover the many screen sizes and densities including orientation changes. I
created AVD'S to test tons of screens. I eventually felt pretty confident
and now after testing on several devices, all my testing was definitely
worth while. My first app seems to fit actual screen sizes quite nicely.
However, I am getting some cancellation notices during download and I can't
help but think it is due to the size of the .apk file 10.3Mb which turns out
to be 21Mb at the Market. OK, so a bunch of that is in .ogg sound files. But
as far as the images go, I used OptiPNG to help. Here's my question: Since
the Android system obviously detects screen size and density when it loads
the apk file, does it or can it or will it ever install only the images
needed for the particular device that it is being installed on? Are there
ways to do this that I am not aware of?
Thanks,
Ronoli
