Ok...seems like this is getting WAY too over-complicated for what should be (and probably is) a very simple task. So let me re-state the question in a different way, using an added bit that I just realized must be possible, if there IS a way to position Toast over a row that is on the display, but not where it was expected to be.... (i.e., to do that, you have to be able to determine the row's location on the screen from the code.)
So, here goes. How, from the code, can I determine the exact location (top of display, bottom of display, specific point in between on the display, ec.) where row 42 (or whatever) is at? Once I know that, I can simply move up or down by the appropriate number of rows to move the target to the top of the display. Or, if all I can determine is that it's not on the top, I can move up, check, move up, check ... repeat until the target IS on the top of the display.
