>> Even when it does, it's my opinion that advertising in the context of mobile is done horribly wrong. It sucks. It's cumbersome, clumsy, and quite frankly could be done so much better. And yes, I have been looking long and hard at how to do things better.
The worst thing about mobile advertising is the category of apps called "Mobile consumables." These ads are the ones for ringtones, jokes, quizzes and the like that want to add a monthly charge to your phone bill. They usually do this by some sort of trickery or slight of hand. For some ad networks, these ads are 60% of the inventory. Users who sign up for these rip-offs are never pleased and a lot of them blame the app itself instead of the companies that are sticking them with $19.95 a month to get a joke SMS'ed to them every day. Until the mobile advertising system recognizes that mobile consumables are destroying the market, they will continue to be an irritant and cause users to think of apps with ads as below par. -John Coryat -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
