Interesting aside, while most people assume bump is using BT (or at least, I
and my coworkers did), it's using plain old internet.

But for the question at hand, why do you need to know the distance that
accurately?  (This isn't meant as an insult, it's a serious question, and I
could envision reasons such as hacking the phone for a hobby project.  In
which case you might be better off using some dedicated hardware to do the
measuring and then connecting it to the device using bluetooth.)
