First, test it with a control group. It serves no purpose to have a large scale test until you have most of the easy to find bugs out of the system. The general public gets frustrated easily and they'll remember bad experiences and forget good ones. Best to keep the general public out of the test until you're reasonably sure your app works on a variety of devices and OS versions.
