I was wondering if these issues were ever figured out. I have a custom tag that also has some long processing times. I've noticed that the setting of the max FWT in the TB(1) byte of the ATS seems to have no effect. It times out on waiting for a response much quicker than the documentation would suggest. It timed out for me two seconds after I placed my Nexus S to the tag, when it was set for the max time of 4.95 seconds.
