What kind of errors do you get? I look at shell scripts in Eclipse all the
time and Eclipse never gives me any kind of error for them.

In fact, Eclipse prefers to shell out to my default editor for shell
scripts. I'm a little annoyed that Eclipse doesn't know how to
syntax-color them properly.

As far as "including" them in the IDE, that seems to be automatic as long
as the directory wherein they reside is subsidiary to the project directory.

I'm not sure what "including ... files in the eclipse [sic] IDE" means,
though, so perhaps I am missing your point. I don't think of "including
... files" in Eclipse, rather I think of including directories in a
project. What do you mean by that phrasing?
