Hi, First of all I would like to congratulate you on launching the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), which is no doubt the most powerful and user friendly mobile OS. Since I have not yet had any hands on experience with this OS, as we here in Pakistan will have to wait for quite some time, but from the information that is available on the net, this OS is no doubt the best ever. The refinements and the modifications are excellent.
However, there has always been one area where there seems to be some lack of interest, not only Android but almost all the mobile OS in the market. Please allow me to highlight this very important and neglected area that, in my opinion, I thought Android would have taken a leap ahead and take a lead in this area. Incoming Call information. With the huge size of the modern smartphone displays, and the current layout of the incoming call screen on ICS, I feel that a large part of the screen is wasted and there is ample room to provide additional information about an incoming call, apart from displaying the picture of the caller. I really don’t know what would be the technical reasons behind it, as to why none of the OS is able to provide this, but as a user I feel this is very important especially when one has a large database of phone numbers. The incoming call display screen should be user selectable and configurable both in terms of caller picture display and additional information for an incoming call. The user should be able to choose whatever information he/she want to be displayed in the 2 or 3 lines below the caller picture i.e. the “Job Title” and “Organization”. If this contact information is already available in the phone, then why not give the user an option to have it displayed for an incoming call? I look forward to hearing from you on this. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
