Nope... the "kiddie hack" still works fine. Tried on Android 
2.1(emulator),  Android 2.2(emulator),  Android 2.3.7(real device).
I don't see any privacy issues, other than the possibility of battery 
drainage.
To use the code above one will need
android.permission.WRITE_SETTINGS and android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION 
at least, so the user is notified that the app can access his location.
I find the above code very handy!
