You could do it in 2 clicks only:

- Press Home.
- Press your activity icon for which you prepared a shortcut.

:-)
I don't think there is a general way to do what you want with
arbitrary keys in any application.

Another option would be to have a notification in the notification bar
(1 slide, 1 click and your activity can be launched).
