I'm not a professional but why are you monkeying around with the
manifest when what you want to do is easily done in the code?
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
layout = new LinearLayout(this);
layout.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
KeyView key= new KeyView(this);
mainText = new TextView(this);
layout.addView(mainText);
layout.addView(key);
setContentView(layout);
