Designing a database is going to be something that you need to do, but you
can look at what data needs to be accessible, then differentiate between
what can be saved, and what can be derived.

For example, if you have an access log, then you can derive how many people
came in during a particular day, that doesn't need to be stored. If you
save the start and end time, then duration doesn't need to be stored, as
that can be derived.

But, if you are sending data elsewhere, you may also want to store it
locally, in case the phone cannot reach your server, such as being in a
building and no signal is accessible. Then you will want to cache the
data, perhaps, and send it when you do get a signal.
