Well, you could try to open just an image and present that as your input rather than the app's camera. Presumably at some high level the camera is just giving you images, if you assume that the camera will work correctly (and you can be fairly certain it will) you can just substitute a random image instead. (For example, you could take a picture of the thing you're scanning with your webcam, then push it to the device, then load the file to verify your barcode scanning algorithm works correctly..
