1. GPS takes a long time to get the lat/long is understandable, and in some cases unavoidable. You could try different approaches for getting a location depending upon your requirement. (Probably use different providers when you don't want to wait for a gps fix)
2. This shouldn't be taking a long time, given that you have a decent enough network on your phone. 3. True.
