There are many resources for becoming a programmer. But they depend on what you want out of it. You can google "becoming a good programmer" and find many good columns on this.. Practice has shown that the best thing for beginners is experience, so it would be best if you started working, now, and kept at it for a few hundred thousand hours. It sucks, but there's not substitute for this.
