You can probably imitate the look of a diffraction filtered lense by superimposing the image twice with a slight lateral offset. Look at the img in this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Ray_Specs_(novelty) With the look coming from software, at least the user can have control over the offset, which would be impossible using a single real diffraction grating lense.
