I think you may have misunderstood what I'm after here. I have a really
nice background for my app (a camera app) that, well, fits---it looks
like the texture you might see on some of the older 35mm cameras (like my
old 35mm that I use for lightning photography, a Pentax K-1000, which is
a tough old camera).

I just want to keep that background for the open areas of the layout,
while at the same time, keeping the ListView's behavior and its
background normal. I do not want the main layout's background texture to
show through the ListView at all---I only set its background because the
texture image was showing through.

As it stands now, though, as long as the background png is there, the
open areas (where there is no text) in the ListView do not respond to
touch events like they should. That is very annoying, to say the least,
and will not help the overall impression of my app at all.

So that's what I'm asking for help with here: getting the ListView to
behave normally, with or without the background image. The first of
those is obviously already there, but add the background, and it breaks.

Thanks,

PS: Apologies if that was overly wordy...I haven't had my coffee yet. :-)
