Hi, I'm investigating how to distribute an app for my company. We don't want general access to the app. It contains our pricing, kind of a calculator, and we want authorized sales people to get it, more as a supplement to their existing software to order, not as a replacement. Anyone can see our price book but giving competitors access to a computerized version might make it to easy for them to quote there orders on our software and figure out how to undercut our prices.
Initially it seemed we just wouldn't distribute on market and distribute it ourselves, but some it seems might not have the ability to install non market apps. Can we distribute a crippled app on market for free. It could have a few things turned on that if any independent person downloaded it, there would be things to do and play with, ( like pricing for a portion of the catalog) but an industry insider would realize it was crippled. We are not trying to make money on the app as much as support the sales team, so calling our number to get a pass to unlock it would not involved us charging any money and we would not be circumventing any policy of collecting payments only on market. Would this be permissible? Mike -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
