So how come that programs are updated automatically on my phone when I check the "Allow automatic update" box? All I get is a notification in the status bar that the app has been updated. No user interaction required (apart from the optional dismissal of the status message). One thing I don't know is how this works when the app in question is currently running. But if that is an issue then my proposal with the secondary, monitor app would still be valid.
