GPS fixes will arrive at a rate determined by the GPS hardware and the environment. You cannot control this.
Either adjust your code to deal with a variable rate of data, or make your own fixed interval polling loop, retrieving values from getLastKnownLocation(). You will still need to use requestLocationUpdates(), to cause GPS to continuously acquire fixes.
