I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but you can have a
spinner by declaring a progressbar with the style Small. Like this:
<ProgressBar
android:id="@+id/spinnerView"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_centerInParent="true"
android:indeterminateOnly="true"
style="@android:style/Widget.ProgressBar.Small.Inverse"/>
