I'm new to Android dev. so please don't laugh...:) I'm starting Android development with Eclipse, ADK, emulator etc. I have a phone (device) stuck at sdk 1.5 and no carrier to go along with it (purchasing a newer phone and plan is not an option right now).
My goal is to develop an app that displays my photos from my site, preferrably streamed and not stored in a db (though that may change as I get further into development). I can test the streaming from Tomcat running locally. Is there a way to do the following given my crippled environment: 1). Read and save image files and music locally via the emulator from directories on my PC? I don't want to have to use the phone or mount the phone or anything else if possible since it has no outside connection. 2). Update the sdk on the phone so I don't have to buy a new one every 6 months? The emulator is painfully slow to develop with - even the old phone that is at least 3 times faster. I see that a new version of the emulator has been released but I don't see any way to update the one I am using in my dev. environment. I've been at this for only 2 weeks and I'm an experienced Java developer; the language is no problem, the environment definitely is :( Any tips are GREATLY appreciated! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
