Hey everyone,

For an assignment I've run into 3 potential problems, some of which can be
fixed partially or completed in 4.1 but I'd like to know if there are ways
to fix them in 4.0 regardless. It's related to the Wi-Fi Direct feature
introduced in Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich.

Problem 1, automatically turning on Wi-Fi Direct from code:
In 4.1 there's a "hacky" way of turning on Wi-Fi Direct, by create a Wi-Fi
Manager and using that to turn on Wi-Fi, which after a delay will have
activated Wi-Fi Direct as well(unless it can't be turned on) is there a
better/more reliable way to automatically turn on Wi-Fi Direct from code?
Prefferably in 4.0 if possible.

Problem 2, automatically accepting Wi-Fi Direct connections from code:
Is there a way to automatically accept incoming Wi-Fi Direct connections,
or is that fully locked down for security reasons?

Problem 3, filtering Wi-Fi Direct peers pre 4.1:
In 4.1, service discovery has been added to the Wi-Fi Direct API that
allows filtering peers not running your application, if in any way possible
I have to be able to do this in Android 4.0. Is there anyway to do it
without creating my own service discovery (which I assume would take time I
do not have) in Android 4.0? It doesn't seem like there is, but perhaps
someone really knowledgeable about the subject may know alternatives.
