Well... This is embarassing. I had two layouts, apparently. And one, map_view.xml was the one I was editing. It was on the other hand, map_and_list_screen.xml that the app had exploded into content upon launching the map activity.
This stuff happens, -it seems it could really happen to anyone, but it does teach me something; - When you create a new module/layout that you switch to rather than the old one, delete the old one to avoid confusion. - Check before fixing: Does the activity target the correct layout. - Go to bed shortly after dinner. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
