Hi, I have a similar environment. I have a small internal network in which I do development ( 2 desk tops and a laptop).
In addition, I also have an "unrooted" Android device which I use for testing. Instead of trying to connect to my internal development network via a usb cable, I connect my Android device via WIFI. To summarize, I have a wireless adapter on my laptop set up as a wireless Access Point (AP). I set the AP to assign a static IP address to my Android device. I then set the "route" on my internal network to allow a connect from the static IP address (exclusively to prevent my neighbours from connecting). On the Android device, I set WIFI on and then log in to my internal development network. A little of set up time. However, as with many development resources, used over and over again. Well worth it :) Hope that helps :) Jason On Tuesday, December 25, 2012 3:24:27 PM UTC-6, David Karr wrote: > > If I have an unrooted Android device, a USB cable, and a laptop, can I run > a web or application server on my laptop and test a site running on that > server on the Android device? > > I know I can do some testing with the Android emulator, but I'd like other > options. > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
