My Nexus 7 also froze a few times in really harsh ways I haven't seen
before with other Android devices. Sometimes it displayed weird patterns on
screen. Most of the time it simply did not respond at all. At one point I
also believed it was bricked because the screen was black and I kept on
pressing the power button to no avail. It simply did not want to reboot. It
got much better after the latest firmware updates so I can only assume it
was a software problem.
