as I can see your data source is some asset.

in this case you don't have to use a pipe: my code I sent a link to is
enough to play with MediaPlayer (in fact I tested it with small video
file stored in the address and VideoView but it shouldn't do the
difference). I used setVideoUri method, with MediaPlayer use
setDataSource with Uri parameter
