This actually uses the original Google Maps V1 API, I've used it in one of my applications.. The note on the project page that you see, is that this project is now deprecated (should not be used anymore) as the new google maps api v2 provides excellent support for markers and marker taps. This functionality was not as good in the v1 api, which is why that author created the project.
