It is the right approach... but it seems like that post and the chosen 
answer are dealing with killing/terminating an app, not figuring out a way 
of finishing it, which explains Romain's answer.

It's a  terminology thing... most developers who start working on android 
aren't familiar with the concept of "always running, never quitting" 
applications... applications "live" when you start them and "die" when you 
close them. So once they read that Android keeps "running" your app even 
when you "close" it, they might think you can't "exit" it from any activity 
you're in (which is wrong, since, you can).
