While it is always admirable to shoot for the top, and understanding the desire to be recognized for your achievements, don't let others define you and tell you your value or the measure of your talent. Nearly every genius that has ever walked the Earth was ridiculed by the establishment and by "normal" folks who couldn't see beyond mediocrity, and nearly every great achievement has been accomplished by someone who was told they'd never succeed. Nuts to everyone else and what they say -- many if not most will never see what you can. Walk to the beat of your own drum. Let what you put your hands to be all you, so that your greatest trophy is being able to look in the mirror knowing you gave it your all, and you can sleep well.
