I have no Lollipop device to test, but what I would do is this:

- Take out the preview image from the project directory, and also remove 
the reference in the appwidget XML
- Compile and run and see if the empty preview image appears
- Put the new preview image in the project and in the XML, do a project 
clean afterwards
- Compile again and run to see if the image is there now
